Whichever is higher: what the parcel weighs on the scale, or its dimensional weight. A 40 × 30 × 20 cm box weighing 1.5 kg is billed at 4.8 kg by most couriers.

How do I pay less to ship a parcel?

Use the smallest box the goods fit in. When the dimensional weight is higher than the real weight, every centimetre you take off the box comes straight off the price.

Why does the courier's invoice differ from the quote?

Usually because the quote used the scale weight and the courier measured the box. Quote on the billable weight shown here and the invoice will match.
