About
Independent retail runs the world. It deserves better tools.
Most shops juggle a billing app, a paper khata, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups. Big-company software is too heavy and too costly. Okount is one app that grows with a shop, from one counter to many stores.
The shop down the street is a logistics company.
It extends credit, manages stock that expires, buys from a dozen suppliers, pays staff, delivers to homes and now sells online. That is more operational complexity than most startups have, run on tools that were never built for it.
Okount puts all of it in one app on the phone already in the shopkeeper's pocket: 13 modules sharing one live inventory, one customer list and one set of books. It works offline, because the internet drops, and it never deletes a financial entry, because the history is the point.
We started in India, with GST, UPI and the khata built in, and we built it to work wherever you sell.
Counter-first
If it slows down a queue, it doesn't ship.
Honest numbers
Every rupee and every unit can be traced back to where it came from.
One source of truth
Stock, customers and money live in one place, never in three apps.
Local by design
Taxes, payments and habits differ everywhere. We build for the place you actually sell.
Six rules from the code.
A draft says it's a draft.
When a photo fills in a product or a supplier's bill, the screen says so at every step. A confidently wrong tax code looks identical to a right one.
Show the working.
Every reorder suggestion says which number it used, because a number a shopkeeper can't argue with is one they can't trust.
Never grade people.
Staff summaries show counts and money handled, not a score. The picker who spent Tuesday on a stock count did exactly what was asked.
Don't guess with money.
Bank lines are ranked, not matched for you. A confident wrong match is worse than an honest blank.
Hold until it's real.
An online return moves no money and no stock until the box is opened and checked.
Say no on the server.
Rules that protect money, like discounts that can't stack and packs that break a courier's limits, are enforced where they can't be edited.
