How do I make a barcode for my product?

Type your product's 12 or 13 digit EAN number, or any SKU for Code 128, and print. If you only sell the item in your own shop, an in-store code starting with 2 works with any billing software. To sell through other shops, supermarkets or online marketplaces, you need EAN codes registered to you by GS1 India.

What is the check digit in an EAN-13 barcode?

The 13th digit, worked out from the first 12 so a scanner can catch a misread. Add the digits in odd places, add three times the digits in even places, and the check digit is whatever takes the total up to the next multiple of 10. Type 12 digits here and the tool adds it; type 13 and it checks it.

EAN-13 or Code 128: which barcode should I use?

EAN-13 for products sold in retail: it's digits only and every billing scanner reads it. Code 128 for your own SKUs, batch numbers or bin labels: it takes letters, digits and symbols, and is what most warehouse systems use.

How do I print barcode labels on a thermal printer?

Choose your roll's label size here and press Print. In the print dialog pick the label printer, set margins to none and scale to 100%. If labels drift, set the same paper size in the printer's own settings and run its label calibration once.

What must a label on a packaged product show?

Under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, a pre-packed product needs the product name, net quantity, MRP inclusive of all taxes, month and year of manufacture or packing, the maker or packer's name and address, and consumer care details; food also needs a best before or use by date.
